Some of this article was interesting, but I would not agree with eating pasta. Fruits, veggies, whole grains, proteins, seafood and the 6 small meals a day. Also use a small plate instead of a regular size plate.

hi Only way loosing weight can help is if your not seriously injured, My weight was 200 when i was injured, i gained 80 pounds total 280 lbs. i couldn't loose weight do to pain / Depression made me eat as well, so i was told i had sleep acphnia i would probably have heart attack or heart troubles within 5 years. i had a stomach bypass lost down to 180lbs 14 months. back pain same for a while then worsened but i was able to have more flexability and felt better but pain still same and worse at time i guess i try to do more now reason why i get worse at times, you do gain wight back after about 7 years you have to watch what you eat i way after 10 years i am up range 193 to 217 back and fourth winter is the worst. only thing that gives me any relief is nerve blocks or nerve burns. attn. nerve blocks have steroids i advise against them because i now have ostiopena close to osteparosis. burns are the only thing i will allow done tell the not to add steroids to the burn. pluse i use stop pain spray or biofreeze spray. plus medicines just when nothing else works which is daily use. i try laying down breathing exersize first sit, walk then resort pills, try half dosage of each at a time. control the drug don't let control you. to easy to become adictited drug and start low i statrted with ultram non adicting pill for about 7 years them it got were there was no relief moved up to lorcet broke it into some time i have to take wholeone but not often still on this baclifen, gabapentin all three half of each at time generally works for me as long as i take my time doing thing quite when your body tells you i may get 1-2 hours each quality life. the rest i live with best i can, quality life for me may be pick a buckett of tomatoes, go for a walk. you can find ways to enjoy your self such as tomatoes in a little medium garden get help make five foot tall basket out of cement wire roll of 150 ft X 5 ft tall makes 30 baskets with help from wife or hire someone you do not have to bend over so much, gallon sprayer at wallmarts. use tobacco sticks to keep wind from blowing over baskets, or tent pegs. you can also push tobacco sticks in the soft ground drop 3 bean seeds beside them and when they come up guide them to the stick they will grow up it easly and easy to pick 1-2 hours a day if you can fights depression makes you feel like you helped accomplish something. i do believe in eating healthy kashi goline bars come 6 to box have high fiber and protien, fresh or frozen fruit, cooked vegetables . favorite is 1 Can of chicken broth add water as well onion powder, garlic fresh minced tbl , carrots, potato small chunks, celery, 1 can green beans ,1 can corn, 1 can peas, little salt , remember to rinse can vegetables first. add alott of vegetables to chilli like bell peppers, butternut squash, kidney beans and garlic, cyan pepper little tomatoes. lean burger or turky or chicken ground lean or ground it your self if you have a grinder white meat is the best lowest fat. sorry i held you up so long. i also like frozen berries with diet sugar sprinkledon them and have very little calories in them, have a great day aee ya all hope i helped someone to day

I totally disagree with this. I have started eating Primal no grains, processed foods and no sugar. I have never felt better and have solved my problem with constipation and other things. If I eat grains I hurt more and feel awful. There is nothing good for you in grains that you cannot get from vegtables. Vegtables have more vitiamins more nutrients and more fiber in the case of green fibrous vegtables then in even the best grains. This is Jeanne (Punky 1960)

This was a good article on basic nutrition. I think we sometimes forget how important eating right can be for helping with back issues.
