Kinesio Taping is a technique based on the body's own natural healing process. This Kinesio Taping exhibits its efficacy through the activation of neurological and circulatory systems. This method basically stems from the science of Kinesiology, hence the name "Kinesio". Muscles are not only attributed to the movements of the body but also control the circulation of venous and lymph flows, body temperature, etc. Therefore, the failure of the muscles to function properly induces various kinds of symptoms. The Kinesio Taping Method is applied over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused tired muscles, and to support muscles in movement on a 24hr/day basis. It is non-restrictive type of taping which allows for full range of motion.

This sounds like a product I would be interested in trying. Do I need to go thru my doctor to get a prescription or can it be bought over the counter?

Is a PT the only person that can do this? Is this type of treatment covered by insurance (medicare)? Does the person have to be certified to do this? I would like to find out more information on this if you could help put me in the right direction. Thank you.

I might be ranting and raving on and on about this kinesio taping but i would advise others to atleast give it a try. When my PT put it on me he said some it helps and others it dont , maybe im just one of those lucky ones that it actually does help but its amazing. I never would have thought in a million years TAPE would help for pain. I would like others to atleast try it and see if it helps them also or if its just me.
